nakamura-200x300IOGKFA’s (International Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Federation Australia) main purpose is the preservation of the pure, classical, traditional aspects of Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate- as embodied in the IOGKF Mokuteki- in line with the technical and spiritual guidelines formulated and developed by its originator, Chojun Miyagi Sensei. IOGKFA attempts to do so by providing a professionally run organisation with infrastructure. Instructors are consistently qualified and trained and their technical knowledge is updated regularly by the Chief Instructor, Sensei Bakkies Laubscher and Sensei Tetsuji Nakamura enabling them carry out the organisation’s mission.

Karate is evolutionary and it is continuously subject to adjustment as society and the environment change. Because of the practical, evolutionary nature of Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate and the flexible style of the IOGKFA’s management, the organisation has stood the test of time.

At the Chief Instructors meeting during the 6th World Budosai in Okinawa, Morio Higaonna Sensei announced his retirement from the position of IOGKF World Chief Instructor, and appointed Tetsuji Nakamura Sensei as the new IOGKF World Chief Instructor.
